Trip to Kerrytown

This morning I woke up and realized that eating so much fast food was not good for me. Therefore I decided to go and make something healthier. I got up, stared at this lovely poster above my bed that PJ and Yann gave me as a present...

When I opened the door of the fridge, I saw I had nothing except the option to go back to the fast food restaurant...

So I decided to go shopping at Kerrytown, which is just 2 blocks away from my house :)

Oh yeah, I forgot, I pick up the wall street journal every morning in the grass

A glimpse of my neighborhood on my way to Kerrytown

I love this frontyard

Kerrytown here we come

That Zingerman store is very popular in AA since it has a blend of "exotic" products hard to find in the US

This is the terrace of Zingerman's café. The style is very European as you can see

Inside Zingerman's

The employees were very friendly =)

Their cheese

American people love cheese and are ready to pay a high price for it...
(the price is per item)

Some more cheese

Some more bread

The pavement gives a particular flavor to Kerrytown compared to any other district in AA

Kerrytown (ctd)

This is were the market takes place, like in Europe !

What happens when

On that square where there is the store where I went to buy some food there was something going on...

Belly dance!!!! yeehaa!!!

And a really good singer later on.

This is the store where I bought everything I needed: you may be thinking about cheese and French bread...

... Nope, organic hamburgers !! (I desperately love American food haha)

They turned to be very tasty :)

Trip to Ikea

Recently I was thinking that my blog was not very interesting to make things simple. As a matter of fact, it lacked some personal pictures. Therefore I decided to take plenty of them yesterday when we went to Ikea with Yiming and Yann.

Arrival at 7:30 after a 30-min drive to the suburbs of Detroit where the store is

Then I was so focused on my shopping I forgot to take pictures of what I bought. No big deal: a desk lamp, light bulbs and batteries.

Sensitive people shall not read the following part. Thanks.

9:30 KFC... all the guys that know KFC clamart or KFC les halles will understand that glare you can see in my eyes...

I know it's so disgusting, it's so unhealthy but it's soo good...

Hmm so people may feel uncomfortable looking at this picture, but personally it makes me feel really hungry...

3 months spent in the US and not fed up with fast food yet...

***

After coming back from Ikea I decided to set up my new desk lamp...

What I like about the manual is that you haven t even started to read the instructions that they suggest you to call them to get your desk lamp set up...

Eventually I didn t need to call these guys lol
oh, the blue stuff in the left hand corner? it s my laundry basket.

As I finished this task...

... these two ladies knocked on my door to invite me to their house party next door :)
Sarah and Elizabeth
So I went to join them, the rest of it is censored haha
All I can tell is that I met great people on that night ^^

What's been goin on ?

This blog has been silent for too long. Indeed, I've been spending most of my time attending classes. Even if there are only 15hours per week teachers give homework sets every week so that it keeps you busy most of the time during the week.

Sometimes during the week, investment banks such as Citi, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan come to make presentations on campus. On these presentations you dress up and try to network with the visiting staff to establish contacts within their firm for further contact during the interview period.

I must tell you that the hunt to get an internship has already started and it is going to be a great but exciting challenge. As part of this quest I joined the Finance Club of the university which deals with all these recruiting issues both for internships and full time positions.

Beside classes, homework, presentations I still manage to go to the swimming pool everyday. I find it very relaxing especially if you want to get away from your daily hassle (eventhough being a student at UofM is far from being pain in the neck haha). I was wondering what sports you guys have found in your new campuses?

Tomorrow is gonna be another week and I am already longing for next weekend. Hopefully I'll spare some time to cook again some French dishes and to hang out and practice my hip hop dancing a bit more haha
